Principal's Letter - August

August 2022 Update

It’s exciting to be able to launch a new logo and a brand refresh for 2022 but the heart of the school remains the same.  Our Level 5 students are out and about on tour - performing in schools, churches and marae including a week long tour of Northland.  This is EXCEL at it’s best - giving our students practical performance experience and a taste of what life is like on the road.  Early starts, stamina and teamwork - there is nothing like actually getting out there and doing it.

2023 is already around the corner and we are now open to applications for next year.  If you’re interested in finding out more click here  or text us at 0274 994 165  and we’ll get in touch and tell you what you need to do.   

Along with our campus here in West Auckland we have also started a satellite campus down in Taupo where we are offering Music.  We are hoping to open up some more of these in the regions - a chance to blend your studies with staying at home (cheaper and you still get Mum’s cooking!) alongside keeping some part time work.  This flexibility is something we are seeing as an increasingly attractive way of completing your studies.   

We are also partnering with SAINTZ Dance Academy with some of their students starting the Level 5 Diploma of Dance in the context of their dance crew rehearsals and performances.  

EXCEL remains committed to being a place of performing arts excellence where you also get a chance to grow or be introduced to life as a Christian in an increasingly complicated world.   I like what Lecrae says which captures some of the heart of what we want to see at EXCEL:  

“I could no longer condemn, critique, copy or mindlessly consume culture; I needed to begin creating culture as a child of the Great Creator!.....painting an alternative picture of the world that was both saturated by the Gospel and accessible enough for ANYONE!”
